Best Lawyers has announced their 2027 Best Lawyers in America and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America honorees. This lists – representing their 33rd and seventh years, respectively – recognize outstanding attorneys, nationwide. The lists, which are based on a peer nomination process, highlight the lawyers whose excellence has distinguished them professionally among their fellow attorneys.
Founding Partner Douglas Wigdor has been named a 2027 Best Lawyer in America, alongside fellow Partners David Gottlieb, Valdi Licul, Lawrence Pearson, and Michael Willemin. In addition to the Best Lawyers in America list, several Wigdor attorneys received the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America distinction, which is tailored to attorneys with fewer than 10 years in practice. We are proud to announce that Associates Melodie Han, Noah Jacobs, and Katherine Vask have been named to this list for the first time, along with Associate Brooke Payton, which marks her second consecutive Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch recognition.
Some stats and trends from this year’s lists:
- More than 32,000 attorneys participated in the voting process
- Voting resulted in more than 3.8 million confidential evaluations
- Only about 5% of practicing attorneys in the market earn the Best Lawyers in America distinction; only 2% receive Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America distinction
- Federal employment litigation data shows a 15% increase in trials as well as a marked increase in plaintiff success rates (from 47% to 60%).
- This year’s research indicates that regulatory focus from the EEOC on automated employment tools emphasizes ongoing scrutiny around AI implementation, algorithmic selection procedures, and workplace discrimination.
