Wigdor LLP represents Jane Doe in connection with her allegations of sexual assault and rape against disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein. Ms. Doe will testify during the criminal trial against Mr. Weinstein in New York County Supreme Court that he raped her in 2005 inside his Manhattan apartment.
The criminal trial against Mr. Weinstein began with a pre-trial hearing on January 6, 2020 and is expected to continue through the beginning of March. Mr. Weinstein is charged with sexually assaulting two women and faces four counts of predatory sexual assault — a Class A felony, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison — as well as one count of criminal sexual act in the first degree, and one count each of rape in the first and third degrees.
Ms. Doe will be one of three Molineux witnesses in the trial, which means that her allegations are not part of the formal charges against Weinstein; however, prosecutors will attempt to use her testimony to demonstrate to jurors a pattern of abuse by Mr. Weinstein, namely that he would lure women to his apartment or office under the guise of offering career assistance before sexually assaulting them.Wigdor LLP has been at the forefront of some of the most closely watched cases involving #MeToo, sexual harassment and sexual assault in modern history. In addition to Ms. Doe, Wigdor LLP also represents Wedil David and Kaja Sokola in connection with their claims of sexual abuse by Mr. Weinstein. Both Ms. David and Ms. Sokola have rejected the reported terms of the tentative $47 million settlement with Mr. Weinstein. Wigdor LLP Founding Partner Douglas H. Wigdor also denounced the terms of the deal as “offensive and one-sided,” calling the proposed agreement “the worst settlement I’ve seen in my entire career.”
