On the morning of Monday, October 23, 2017, Douglas Wigdor was interviewed by NBC host Megyn Kelly on her show, Megyn Kelly Today. Ms. Kelly, who worked as an anchor for Fox News until January of 2017, began the show with a powerful monologue, during which she revealed an email that she sent to Fox co-presidents Bill Shine and Jack Abernathy in November of 2016 complaining about the climate of sexual harassment being perpetuated by former Fox host Bill O’Reilly.
The revelation arrived in response to a report by the New York Times on Saturday, titled “Bill O’Reilly Settled New Harassment Claim, Then Fox Renewed His Contract”, in which reporters Emily Steel and Michael S. Schmidt disclosed that Mr. O’Reilly agreed to pay the “extraordinarily large amount” of $32 million to settle harassment allegations by former Fox News legal analyst, Lis Weihl. On the morning of Thursday, October 26, 2017, Douglas Wigdor appeared on Megyn Kelly Today a second time to discuss workplace sexual harassment culture, this time alongside prominent sexual harassment lawyer and women’s rights advocate, Gloria Allred.
