Wigdor LLP represents former Bayer Vice President Dr. Irene Laurora in a pregnancy retaliation lawsuit against the company. An experienced professional and valued Vice President at Bayer, Dr. Laurora was even awarded “Working Mother of the Year” in light of her dedication to helping new mothers overcome the discriminatory environment in the corporate workforce. However, as alleged in the Complaint, when Dr. Laurora stayed true to those principles and spoke out about Bayer’s decision to discriminate against a pregnant colleague about to go on maternity leave, she was retaliated against, and ultimately terminated. The colleague in question had been removed from her leadership position after informing the company that she would be taking her legally-protected maternity leave.  Wigdor LLP’s Founding Partner Douglas Wigdor said of the lawsuit:

“Instead of supporting Dr. Laurora’s efforts to remedy obvious pregnancy discrimination, Bayer took actions to silence her by unlawfully terminating her employment.  Our Firm intends to utilize all of its resources to ensure that all employees have the right to come forward and report discrimination without the fear of reprisal.”
